May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- DETROIT – In every line of trucks there are times when they meet the end of their run, and now it’s time for Michigan trucks to say goodbye to the Chevrolet Avalanche as the newest General Motor truck to retire. GM has announced that although the 2013 model will celebrate its final year of production, it’s going out with a bang with the 2013 Black Diamond Avalanche.
“More than 580,000 Avalanches have been sold since its introduction in 2001, and Avalanche has won major awards and recognitions throughout its run,” said Mark Clawson, Avalanche marketing manager.  “So it is only fitting that Avalanche retires on a high note.”
There are plenty of features that are being stocked into the different trims of the special, Diamond edition such as the following:
•   a rear camera with rear park assist
•   power adjustable pedals
•   remote start
•   Bluetooth capability
•   multi-zone climate control
The base prices for the Michigan trucks have been reduced $2,500 (after equipment adjustments) with the 2WD Avalanche LS now starting at $ 35,980, plus $995 dealer freight charge.
The Avalanche has been known as a uniquely-styled, innovative model with plenty of features that make the Avalanche able to tow, haul and carry the family and cargo to match. Being one of the more flexible Michigan trucks, the Avalanche combines passenger comforts with truck capabilities.
Others in the truck industry had positive thoughts to share about the Avalanche once the announcement was made:
“The Chevrolet Avalanche was one of the earliest forays into re-inventing the traditional pickup truck,” said Michelle Krebs, a senior analyst for Edmunds.com.  “It was a vehicle that maintained the traditional truck image and capability but was more versatile for the person buying it for personal use more than work – a lifestyle truck more than a work truck. Other variations on the theme from competitors followed the Avalanche's debut.”
Many consumers may miss the Chevrolet Avalanche, but at least the 2013 model is going out in style.
