How the Price of Oil affects Oil and Gas Jobs

Anyone that owns a car or pays for heating in their home knows that the price of oil and gas has risen significantly over the years. This is down to a number of factors, the main one being the simple strategy of supply and demand.

PRLog - May 3, 2012 - The demand is determined by the increased growth in the worldwide economy; with the Asian side of the market the leaders in this surge as they develop their own economies.

With supply just one event can that demands more oil can drive the prices up, whereas on the flip side, as the production rate of oil doesn’t alter, little decreases in demand can produce surpluses making the prices fall.

It was during one of these decreases in process that produced a shortage of workers within the oil and gas jobs market. In 1998 the prices dropped so significantly that many oil and gas workers sought employment elsewhere. Unfortunately as the price of oil rose, these workers were already settled in their new UK jobs, and were unwilling to return to their oil and gas jobs.

Now skilled oil and gas workers are in very high demand. The industry is seeing enormous growth both locally and in off shore oil and gas jobs. Workers are needed for oil rigs for deep sea drilling and also for new projects that involve the procurement of oil from other resources such as oil shale.

The process of extracting oil shale is expensive as it’s a rock that is sedimentary at the bottom of the ocean containing the precious kerogen. The mixture of sand, clay and tar sands make up the rock along with the bitumen deposits that are known as black petroleum.

It’s because of the complex nature of this oil extraction that oil and gas jobs are now one of the best sectors to work in. Creative and passionate people are needed to help plan the extraction as well as considering the global environmental impact. As we’ve been warned that we have already hit our peak for oil consumption, our resources are dwindling making those skilled oil and gas workers crucial in the way the world goes forward.

Even as locally as the North Sea companies are still searching for new ways to find oil, meaning that oil and gas jobs offshore could only be a few hundred miles from home. These new findings can be accessed using oil rigs that are already present, with the addition of platforms; costs can be kept down on equipment meaning more goes into the actual manpower.

In this area there is also a huge demand for engineers, engineer jobs are hoping to be filled with those with a passion for renewable energy and chemistry. Experts believe that these engineer jobs will be filled by those who have the responsibility to secure a sustainable future for the world, reshaping molecules and devising new ways to source fuel that is fit for consumption.

No matter what happens the writing on the wall is clear. Oil and Gas jobs are an optimum way to receive a high wage whilst helping to shape the world for future generations. Even superman didn’t have that power!
