May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- DETROIT – MI Ford dealers are proud to be able to work with the corporation and other dealers across the country to bring funding to schools. Ford’s Drive One 4 UR School program has raised more than $10 million since 2007 and this month Ford is looking to raise a record-setting $1 million in just the month of April.
Working together, MI Ford dealers and others across the country as well as Lincoln dealers schedule test drive fundraising events where the dealerships offer the vehicles to be test driven and the high school organizes the event. Ford donates $20 to the high school for every valid test drive up to $6,000.
While Ford is reaching into the community, General Motors is proud to announce recently that its entire lineup of Buick models have been named by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as Top Safety Picks.
“Buick is building state-of-the-art crash protection into every model from the ground up,” said IIHS President Adrian Lund. “This means the best overall protection in the most common kinds of crashes, along with standard electronic stability control for helping drivers to stay out of many crashes to begin with.”
All vehicles are tested to determine occupant protection in front, side and rollover crashes and other specific tests for seats and head restraints for neck safety. All four tests must be rated as “good” for a vehicle to earn a 2012 Top Safety Pick.
Here are the vehicles available from GM with just a few highlights for each:
•   Buick Verano: 10 standard air bags, more than 60 percent high-strength steel
•   Buick Regal:  Front and Rear Park Assist, 2-way adjustable head restraints
•   Buick LaCrosse: 8 standard airbags, Passenger sensing system for air bags
•   Buick Enclave:  Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, All-around air bad system
Ford and GM work together with their dealers to serve the community and their customers. MI Ford dealers may add a lot to the raising of money for high schools while GM continues to add safety to its lineups.
