May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- SMC continues to make waves as an industrial innovator.  The most recent offer is their Series MPC, the multi-position cylinder.  Series MPC is a unique and inexpensive way to give customers an infinite number of adjustable stroke positions.  "We needed a way to make multi-positioning available to customers who might not be a fit for electric actuators."

Unique in the industry, the MPC is an actuator, directional control valve, controller and linear positioner all in one unit.  This single unit offers an infinite number of adjustable stroke positions for under $500, positioning it as a more economical and pneumatic alternative to electric actuators.

How it Works:
The MPC uses a 4~20mA or 0~10VDC input signal to automatically adjust the actuator stroke. Once the MPC reaches the desired position, it is pneumatically locked until the input signal is changed.

It accomplishes this by using its integrated cylinder, solenoid valve, linear sensor, and controller.  The end user supplies air, the appropriate input signal and 24VDC power. Unlike more complex solutions, the MPC is easy to adjust, making it the perfect fit for on-the-fly process changes.

As the pneumatic industry continues to evolve, so to does SMC Corporation.
