May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- SAUSALITO, CA,  -- Travelers looking for an often overlooked “find” can discover this summer what Wild Planet Adventures’ wildlife experts have known for years.

From the end of the rainy season in late June to early August is a season all its own, known as Veranito or Little Summer in Costa Rica. This is when wildlife come out in force. Couple this with a company that spares nothing when it comes to getting its guests to the right place at the right time to sight rare and endangered species – but always in a sustainable manner – and Wild Planet Adventures’ Costa Rica Ultimate Wildlife Eco-Tour exceeds expectations, said Josh Cohen, founder/owner. Tours visit up to eight national parks and wildlife reserves and engage guests in 13 activities on both the Pacific and Atlantic coasts.

Fourteen-day Veranito tours on June 23-July 6 and July 14-27 departures (only) come with a $250 per person discount on new double occupancy bookings. This brings the per person rate to $4,148 from $4,398. Nine-day tours are $2,798 per person. Rates include lodging, meals, transportation with in the country, guides and activities. The trips are rated easy to moderate are suitable for families. See: http://www.wildplanetadventures.com/content/view/11/30/

“In addition to lower air fares during this season, we love the fact that we usually have increased sightings of howler, spider and capuchin monkeys, three-toed sloths, colorful exotic birds and even rare animals like tapir and big cats as they forage for new fruit fed by the June rains,” remarked Cohen. “In July, we see more volume of wildlife and more rare and endangered species than during any other time of year in Costa Rica.”

Visiting Costa Rica during this seasonal anomaly also means fewer people hiking the trails and paddling the rivers. Unique rainforest lodging, some of which are featured on Animal Planet and the Discovery Channel, adds to the experience.

Cohen added that changes in weather patterns have extended the Veranito season.

“Visitors will get some rain at this time of year - as they will any time of year in the rainforest - but it’s not the kind of torrential rains that occur from mid-August through December,” he said, adding that Veranito airfare rates are substantially less than from December through May, making this an exceptionally attractive time to visit Costa Rica.
