Capstone Brings Green Remodeling to Multi-Family Apartment Complex in Waltham

May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Capstone General Contracting, Inc. is pleased to announce near completion of its first multi-family green remodeling project in Waltham, MA.  With a 95% efficient heating and AC system, energy saving windows and doors and the highest quality of “green” materials including spray foam insulation, Capstone aims to save the owner over 20% in annual energy savings.

“When the client approached us with this multi-family renovation project, they asked us what we could do on the construction side to save on the day to day operational costs of the complex. Our answer was to ‘go green’,” said Capstone CEO Charbel Najem.

Located at 18 Norumbega Terrace in Waltham, MA the two building 24 unit multi-family complex was built in 1985. After a devastating fire the owners bid the project to contractors that specialized in fire restoration. Capstone General Contracting was awarded the contract and began remodeling in October of last year.

According to the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy and CNT Energy, multi-family units would save nearly $3.4 billion annually nationwide between energy upgrades and costs by going green.

“When considering any renovation project, whether it is commercial or residential, going green makes sense both economically and environmentally,” said Najem. “On this job we installed a tankless water heater from Rinnai. Simply put that unit only heats water on an as needed basis and can save as much as 40% when compared to traditional units.”
