Chicago's Wishcraft Workshop partners with local businesses for 2012 summer fashion camps.

May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Wishcraft's fashion and sewing camps have been a hit since they debuted in 2009. The many campers that return year-after-year know that there are always new fashionable surprises to find at the Wishcraft Workshop come summer. For 2012 Wishcraft has partnered with fellow independent Chicago businesses, CRUSH and The Needle Shop, to add even more fashionable fun to their "Project Wishcraft" summer camp experience.

CRUSH is an apparel boutique for girls, boys, and women, filled with basic and trendsetting looks. Campers will have run of the store as they learn about fashion, accessories, styling and merchandising. With the guidance of fashion-industry expert and the Wishcraft Workshop's Founder, Candice Blansett-Cummins, along with the super-hip and fun team at CRUSH, campers will learn, play and maybe even see their handiwork on display in a shop window on Roscoe Street.

The Needle Shop is Chicago's best adult DIY sewing school and independent fabric store. For the first time, campers will have an opportunity to "shop" the amazing fabrics offered at The Needle Shop for use in the fabrication of garments of their own design.

Like bootcamp for blossoming fashion designers, Project Wishcraft campers design and construct clothing and accessories while learning machine and hand-sewing, basic flat-patterning, fashion history, elements of personal style and industry basics. No previous sewing experience is required, and those with experience take on new challenges. All campers design and sew a garment and present it to their family and friends in a fashion show on the final day of camp. Project Wishcraft camps are offered 4 weeks during the summer of 2012, including June 18-22 (ages 7-14), July 23-27 (ages 9-14), August 13-17 (ages 7-14), August 27-31 (ages 8-14).  Online camp registration is available 24/7 at http://growartists.com.
