May 3, 2012 - PRLog -- Cascade, a Plymouth-based sales and marketing company are excited by this new addition to the Royal William Yard and hope that it becomes a huge success. A £200,000 wine “lounge” is planned to open by the end of July as the latest classy attraction at Plymouth's Royal William Yard, writes William Telford, Business Editor, and other businesses including restaurants and retailers are circling the former naval victualling yard, now seen as the up-market place to be in Plymouth.

Le Vignoble is the brainchild of Frenchman Yannick Loué, who will be quitting his job as food and beverage manager at St Mellion International Resort to run the business from late July. He stressed it would not be a wine bar, but “a new concept” previously only seen in London and Europe. The venue - which still needs planning permission and to finalise a lease - is planned for a 1,050sq ft unit in the New Cooperage, currently in the latter stages of being refurbished by yard developer Urban Splash. The director at Cascade had this to say, “I am interested in this new concept idea and to see if it catches on to the public.”

Mr Loué said Le Vignoble – French for vineyard – would be “70 per cent wine retail and 30 per cent lounge area” with an “educational” element too, whereby foreign wine experts give talks about the drink. He said it is intended to seat 16 people inside and 16 outside, in a sophisticated “pre-dinner” attraction which would close at 9.30pm. Wine connoisseurs would sample wines and can then buy a glass, or bottle, which can be consumed on the premises or taken away. The managing director at Cascade said “This will be an interesting place to go to and check out, I find the idea to be well thought out and I think that it will catch the public’s eye.”

Mr Loué also intends to install an auto wine dispenser machine which allows customers to serve themselves, paying via smartcard, but monitored by staff. He is also proposing to serve foods such as cured meats which will complement the wines. A source at Cascade stated “We can already tell this will be a huge success with all these ideas and plans and cannot wait for it to be opened.”
