May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- The National Pollution Prevention Roundtable (NPPR) has announced the theme for the 2012 Pollution Prevention Week as “Safer Chemicals for a Safer World”. Pollution Prevention Week is the third week of September, September 17th – 23rd, 2012. P2 Week is the time when businesses, environmental groups and citizens can join forces for a common cause. By sharing information about pollution prevention (P2), businesses can become more competitive, businesses and government can realize cost savings, and environmental quality can be enhanced.

“Safer Chemicals for a Safer World” embodies a national effort for safer alternatives to chemicals of concern. This is to ensure the safety and health of workers and communities. Using safer chemical alternatives also provides companies with a marketing edge over their competitors.

NPPR has an annual poster drive to kick off P2 Week. This year NPPR is opening up the design of the poster. Entries to the poster design contest must relate to the theme, “Safer Chemicals for a Safer World”. Full contest details are available on NPPR’s website at www.p2.org/p2-week.

The deadline for entries is June 25, 2012.
