The office furniture maker, Steelcase sold these adjustable height desks to Quarles and Brady. They indicated the law firm was searching for office furniture that would promote wellness and help cut down on stress. Kristen Danyluk, an associate at the firm said, "It's really great to be able to change it up a little. For me, I'm realizing that standing and typing is actually more comfortable than sitting and typing".
Edmund "Bud" Klipa, a principal at Steelcase said this about the height adjustable desks, "I wouldn't say that this is a trend in the legal profession, but we've had enough conversations with attorneys to know there is an interest". Klipa went on to say that these types of desks designed to encourage good posture and better health have only gone mainstream in recent years and that height adjustable desks are his company's fastest growing category of product.
The sit and stand desks purchased by Quarles and Brady are electric and are more expensive that the all green sit to stand Desktop Elevator.
In the future, we hope to see many more law firms equipped with the Desktop Elevator adjustable height, sit and stand desk so that more lawyers and support staff can enjoy the increased comfort and health benefits provided by the sit and desk experience.
