Avasant hosts IAOP Transboundary Webinar on Responsible Sourcing

May 2, 2012 - PRLog -- Avasant hosted the IAOP Transboundary Sourcing Chapter webinar on Responsible Sourcing on April 12, 2012. IAOP Transboundary Sourcing Chapter is chaired jointly by Avasant and Microsoft. The webinar was moderated by Avasant Global CEO, Kevin S. Parikh. The panelists included eminent “Thought Leaders” from the Outsourcing Industry and was well attended by participants from both buyer and provider organizations.
The theme of the webinar was Responsible Sourcing: Social Impact with Economic Value.

Organizations are increasingly realizing the value of including few
socially responsible objectives while engaging a provider organization for service delivery.

As newer service delivery business models, such as Impact Sourcing and Rural Sourcing become mainstream, the Buyer and Provider community are proactively collaborating to include a “social vector” in their business relationship. The event brought together experts from the Donor, Provider and Buyer community to engage in a
discussion around how Responsible Sourcing can meet the business objectives and drive economic value in the organizations while creating the social impact. The two apparently diverse goals need not be mutually exclusive, but can coexist. The
panelists discussed how outsourcing business models like Impact Sourcing are
changing the socio-economic environment in places as far flung as Vietnam,
Kenya and Haiti while meeting the business needs of the developed economies.
Kevin S. Parikh stressed that “the opportunity for Socially Responsible Sourcing is real and the key is to target poor and vulnerable communities by promoting job creation and investment through public-private-partnerships.” Kevin also outlined the positive impact created by responsible sourcing in the emerging and developing economies.

The panel discussed on different forms of Socially Responsible Sourcing and evaluated the need for generating both Social impact and Economic Value through the outsourcing business model. The discussions concluded with views on ways to spread the message regarding the benefits of Rural and Impact Sourcing and driving towards becoming a mainstream activity in the Sourcing Industry.
