May 1, 2012 - PRLog -- (Mississauga, Ontario) - Keeping Us Safe is pleased to announce that The Silver Pages will be sponsoring Canada’s Inaugural Class of the “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professional Certification program, scheduled for May 17, 2012.

Celebrating their 20th anniversary, The Silver Pages is a trusted Canadian resource on Home Health Care and Independent Living.

"The Silver Pages receives many phone calls and emails about how to get a parent to stop driving.  We have always been at a loss on how to help.  Now with this certification program, we will be able to help those in need of guidance," explained John Bauslaugh, Publisher of The Silver Pages.  "This program presents an excellent opportunity to get others involved to help baby boomers and seniors throughout all of Ontario."

“John Bauslaugh’s dedication and commitment to personal and professional caregivers in and around the greater Toronto area makes The Silver Pages the ideal sponsor for Canada’s first Beyond Driving with Dignity Professional Certification class” says Matt Gurwell, Founder & CEO of Keeping Us Safe.

Headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, Keeping Us Safe’s “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professional Certification program is recognized in the United States as a practical and affordable alternative to families who have found themselves concerned about an elderly parent’s safe driving ability.

The one-day training program was developed to arm qualifying professionals with the tools necessary to help older drivers and their families work through the complicated, sensitive and often-times emotional issue of age-related diminishing driving skills.

Graduates of the program are then well-suited to provide older drivers and their families with a very specific program that will help them make appropriate decisions on how to keep the older driver safe as he or she progresses through the natural aging process.

The “Beyond Driving with Dignity” Professional Certification program is designed to be a common-sense approach to help facilitate (and often times mediate!) rational, driving-related solutions based on tangible facts and personal observations.  “Beyond Driving with Dignity; The workbook for the families of older drivers” serves as the foundation of the certification program.

“The goal of the Beyond Driving with Dignity program is to help keep seniors independent and driving for as long as possible, but when in the interest of safety a driving retirement becomes appropriate, we help the individual make a smooth transition from the driver’s seat to the passenger seat” says Gurwell.

TheSilverPages.ca website features information and resources on Home Health Care, Independent Living and Health & Wellness, a section dedicated to Caregivers, and a Marketplace.  An ‘Ask the Experts’ area is being developed to bring their readers a wide cross section of respected professionals who can answer questions about such topics as aging safely in place, senior care services, barrier free living, assisted living options, accessibility, estate planning, downsizing, managing transitions and much more.
