This morning, in a press release, LOCOG announced that the BMW fleet exceeded the emissions requirements as expected. Helped to do so by a number of electric vehicles, the fleet bested expectations with an overall average of 116g/km CO2 emissions. The press release also outlined a variety of duties the vehicles will perform during the games. Transporting athletes, officials, and equipment from site to site tops the list of planned uses for the BMW fleet, but the vehicles will also pull boats in and out of the water, tow horse trailers, and serve as mobile camera platforms during marathons.
Warrenton Highline hopes the increased visibility of the BMW brand will boost sales this summer, but notes that their BMW vehicles typically sell well anyway. Currently, Warrenton’s internet inventory lists 12 available BMW vehicles in a variety of models.
