Pop Culture Blends with a Unique Automotive Audience for Carlisle Performance & Style

PRLog (Press Release) - May 1, 2012 - The spotlight will shine once again on Central Pennsylvania as part of Carlisle Performance & Style, May 12-13 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds.  The 2012 event is the 17th such incarnation of a show that has evolved tremendously since its inception.  P&S annually showcases the hottest trends in the automotive hobby and has done so for parts of three decades following its 1996 launch.  

2012’s event starts with a Friday Night Kick-Off Party, presented by the McCann School of Business and Technology.  The event will take place at the McCann School’s Carlisle campus and features a charity car show.  Proceeds from the Friday night festivities directly benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania.  Trophies will be awarded for best-in-make categories as well as best paint, engine bay, interior and ICE.  

Saturday at 9 a.m. marks the official start of the event with over 1,000 of the hottest rides in the region rolling onto the grounds for a one-of-a-kind atmosphere.  In addition to the cars, an estimated 20,000 fans of the hobby will walk the grounds to admire the unique displays, custom machines and interact with like-minded enthusiasts.

Popular returning activities include autocross and drifting exhibitions presented by NICO (Nissan/Infiniti Car Owners), the Scikotics Ward, R/C drifting presented by Driftsylvania, “Dirty-Stancing” presented by Low Life & Junk Style and the ever-popular Best of Carlisle and Carlisle Elite Top Flight awards.  In addition, special displays will be positioned in Building T as well as the ICE House under the grandstand featuring vehicles with outrageous custom audio, visual, lighting, gaming and navigation components.  Kickin’ it Old School joins the fray for 2012, featuring early ‘90s era cars that launched the hobby.

“Carlisle Events is excited to welcome back the dedicated enthusiasts that attend Performance & Style each year,” noted co-owner Lance Miller.  “We’re looking forward to another successful event and welcoming back to Carlisle the crowd that makes Performance & Style what it is today,” added Miller.

The weekend doesn’t just feature cars for show, parts and accessories are also available for purchase via the swap meet and Manufacturers Midway.  Finally, what P&S event would be complete without the highly attended burnout competition and Ms. Carlisle beauty contest?  Both activities will take place on Saturday afternoon.  Admission is $20 for Saturday, $15 for Sunday or a two-day pass can be purchased for $25.
