The ADA continues with its long-standing position that dental X-rays should be ordered only when necessary for diagnosis and treatment. They also recommend shielding the patient and using high-speed film or digital film x-rays to minimize exposure. In accordance with ADA guidelines and recommendations, Dr. Stone uses lead protective aprons with thyroid collars when taking dental X-rays, and all X-rays are taken digitally avoiding the lengthier exposure to film.
