The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (http://www.nhtsa.gov/Safety/Motorcycles) reported that there were more than 4,376 fatalities across the U.S. in 2010. According to Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (http://www.flhsmv.gov/hsmvdocs/CS2010.pdf) 2010 Crash Stats – there were 7,484 motorcycle accidents with 5961 motorcycle drivers/ passenger who were injured, and 383 who were killed.

Common Cause of Motorcycle Accidents
There many causes of motorcycle accidents that can lead to a crash. The most common cause of a motorcycle accident is other drivers in vehicles not seeing the motorcycle. Other causes can include:

* Poor weather conditions
* Driver sudden stops, lane changes or ignoring traffic signals
* Aggressive driving or excessive speeding
* Driver inattention or distracted driving
* Poor road conditions or roadway hazards
* Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
* Inexperienced motorcyclist
* Auto or motorcycle defects

Common Injuries
Despite preventive actions and safety features (helmets), motorcycle accidents and injuries will occur. Head injuries, road rash, bone fractures, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries are some of the most common injuries that you may sustain from such accident.
