If there’s one problem that has continually eluded the biometric community, it would have to be measuring the height of a person in a photograph. There are several solutions that offer the ability to measure a person standing in a photograph, but there always has to be reference points to measure with, like if a person is standing next to a car, then you estimate how tall the car is in comparison to the person standing next to it. These solutions are complex and not everybody wants to go through such a long process.
EyePic has an easier solution; and after you load a photo, your only four double clicks away from measuring the person’s height. It can measure the person’s height with only a photo of that person’s eye, unlike anything else out on the market today.
How can EyePic do something that nobody else has been able to do? It uses a new patent pending scale that measures a human body more accurately than before. The scale measures a person within a certain range of different basic body templates. The software is released with one scale; but as research continues, so too will updates with new scales.
How can EyePic be used with our everyday lives; well let’s say for example if you had an old photo with a family member in it, now it would be possible to know their height. It can also be used in conjunction with other security programs as an added feature. The most amazing thing could be that you could longer “fudge” how tall you are on the internet, like on a dating service or even any social websites that have your photo on it.
It comes with a few fun features that are based on the work of Leonardo da Vinci, like a Vitruvian Man, with a more stylized form, that you can choose different measurements of the body features; for example from the bottom of the feet up to the knees. There are several measurements you can choose from, and you can also choose the color or shade of the Vitruvian Man.
EyePic is not the only product from Eyelength Technologies that can specifically measure the height of a person; they also have it as a more simplified version called EyePic Lite, and they have a calculator that can be used with other software applications to calculate a person’s height.
