More recently, her work as President of Responsible Ownership of Marfa Pets (ROMP), a non-profit organization that works to provide community education programs and low-cost spay/neuter options in Presidio County, qualify her for this award.
ROMP exists to help the area’s 20 percent of community members who live below the poverty level access low-cost spay and neuter, when otherwise the nearest low-cost clinic is hundreds of miles away.
“While we have benefited from Kathie's willingness to serve our organization, no doubt the residents of her community, animal and human, win that much more,” said IAABC President, Sarah Filipiak.
