The two events were The Magic Flutes, an afternoon Concert and Tea held at Willoughby Golf Club in December and A Musical Feast, an elegant dinner and evening concert in January at Harbour Ridge Country Club. As a result of the financial success of these events, the Friends were able to underwrite the afternoon performance of the concert on March 30 at the Lyric Theatre.
Michael La Porta, President of the Atlantic Classical Orchestra, thanked and congratulated everyone for their outstanding support of the ACO and quipped he enjoyed attending Stuart Friends of the ACO meetings "because this group is so much fun.”
The new officers for the 2013 season were also announced. They are: Hillary Egan, President, Sue Sokel, Vice-President, Jean Eldridge, Treasurer and Jeanné Hudock, Secretary.
Immediately following a delicious lunch, guests enjoyed a concert by two young musicians, Hannah Geisinger on viola, and Kaila Geisinger on harp. "For such young musicians aged 14 and 15, they play very well, beautifully and soulfully. They gave us great joy, and turned our ordinary day into a magical afternoon," said Hillary Egan, a new Stuart Friend.
The Friends is a membership organization that meets the second Thursday of each month. Membership levels are $10 - $100. For membership information, please contact Sue Sokel at 772-223-8866.
