Walking Tree Travel, a student travel company whose mission is to create more globally minded citizens, was started with only a $1200 investment and now has over $1 million in revenue per year.

April 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Walking Tree Travel is a boutique travel company whose mission is to create more globally minded citizens by providing homestay and community service based programs in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Paul Laurie, Luke Mueller and Gabriel Duncan, three childhood friends from Denver, Colorado, founded Walking Tree Travel in 2005. Through living, teaching, studying and traveling in more than 100 countries combined, they came to share a love and respect for the transformative power of travel, and started Walking Tree to share this passion with others. With only a $1200 investment per partner, no business experience and one computer to share, Walking Tree Travel was born.

Since their first program of 12 Colorado students to Costa Rica in the summer of 2006 and with zero additional investment, Walking Tree has grown into a company with over 40 full and part time employees and contractors worldwide, taking over 1000 travelers abroad from 35 states. In 2011, Walking Tree had over $1 million in revenue and expects to grow even more in 2012.

“We started Walking Tree Travel to prove that you can create a company in which everyone involved benefits in a profound way. Our host communities, clients, vendors and employees all believe in a common vision and work together toward this ideal of creating Global Citizens. Although the bottom line is important, it is not our only focus. Walking Tree is proving that altruism can be profitable.” Luke Mueller, Director, Walking Tree Travel

Walking Tree Travel is a privately owned company that organizes international community service, language immersion, and homestay-centered programs for high school students, educators, adult travelers, families and professional organizations. Moreover, Walking Tree is a community of people who strive to inspire youth to become global citizens by taking an active interest in the world around them.
