PO Box 1142 Kickstarter Project Explores New Details On How The U.S. Won World War II

April 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Newport Beach,CA- PO Box 1142, a book and web site now launched at Kickstarter ( http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/afk/po-box-1142   ) is researching newly uncovered details on how the United States won World War II.  It is particularly paying tribute to the contributions made be American veterans, including many Jewish vets, who heroically participated in the top secret project known as PO Box 1142.  

"What we are learning is that in one of the darkest hours of history, the great human power of intelligence and vision conquered in its own way over hate and fear and that this contributed to the American and Allied victory in World War II that was a great historical achievement," said project leader and author Alex Kanakaris.

Mr. Kanakaris was drawn to launch the Kickstarter project P.O. Box 1142 by his personal debt to one of the heroes of the mission, the late Major Arnold Kohn. Major Kohn was the Chief Intelligence Officer of the PO Box 1142 project which was previously classified and remained secret for 60 years. He also was responsible for a turnaround in the academic career of Mr. Kanakaris as he was both teacher and mentor to Kanakaris as head of the Individualized Study Program at Pacific Grove High School in California.  Mr. Kanakaris is writing a book and creating a web site entitled PO Box 1142 in tribute to those who served and to help tell the amazing story to the largest possible audience.

"The project was not only top secret it was compartmentalized so that many who participated did not know each other or what the entire mission entailed. If we get this project funded, and I am confident we will, we are going to do everything possible to tell the most complete story ever written on PO Box 1142," Mr. Kanakaris added.

"There are many lessons to be learned for the future of peace and dealings between nations in the story of PO Box 1142. Perhaps that is the most important reason this story must be told.  For example, the brilliant interaction, which in no way involved torture or any of the other things the U.S. has traditionally opposed, between the U.S. interrogators, many of them Jewish, and the prisoners, most of them German, is part of the reason the U.S. won the war," Mr. Kanakaris stated.

PO Box 1142 is the amazing true story of the humane and historic treatment of prisoners that helped achieve the U.S. victory and shorten the duration of the war, impacted the cold war, the Central Intelligence Agency, our putting a man on the moon and forever changed the course of history. Because the mission was top secret and not declassified until recent years, the patriotic veterans held their silence for sixty years but are now honored by Congress, the Military and the Forest Service at Ft. Hunt Park, Virginia where PO Box 1142 was,  and the story can now be told.
