American Native is a weekly one hour radio program that focuses on the important matters of Native American life: health, family, relationships, trends, current events, personal finance and more. In addition to highlighting information on issues and current events not commonly discussed each week in the mainstream media.  The show also features interviews with a wide range of persons whose efforts influence Native American lives

This week, Saturday, May 5th, 2012, the show features interviews with two previous guests - Native American Musical Artist Casper Loma Dawa & President/CEO of Native American Connections Diane Yazzie Devine

Winner of the Native American Music Award for World Music Recording, Casper Lomayesva is a Hopi/Diné singer who has created a sound that combines Native American roots with the positive vibes of reggae music. Casper’s music is filled with hope, power and harmony with the Great Spirit. The words are a reflection of his own philosophy on life, influenced not only by the crucial sounds of reggae music but of traditional Hopi culture as well.

Native American Connections CEO, Diana "Dede" Yazzie Devine has been named among the Top 25 Most Admired CEO's of Phoenix & Arizona's 48 Most Inspiring Women. Devine has served as the CEO and President of Native American Connections for over 30 years. Dede started when Native American Connections was only one building serving less than 50 individuals a year. Now, due to Dede's leadership and vision, Native American Connections owns and operates 15 different sites throughout the Phoenix area and provides over 5500 people a year support through affordable housing, behavioral health and community development projects. Native American Connections operations budget exceeds $9.1 Million dollars annually and includes 6 independent LLC subsidiaries. Dede inspires her staff to be inclusive, cooperative and collaborative every day in their work with each other, those served by Native American Connections and the Greater community.
