So what is so special about green coffee?
Well a leading chemist in the United States called Joe Vinson has recently carried out a test on 16 people in their twenties who were all overweight. He gave them all 1050mg of green coffee bean extract every day for 12 weeks, and each person lost an average of 17 pounds each, and more than 10% of their combined body weight in total.
These are clearly very impressive results, and it would suggest that green coffee bean extract does indeed help with weight loss.
It is not known for sure whether it is the caffeine that causes this weight loss, or possibly the chlorogenic acid in the green coffee, which helps slow down the release of glucose in the body.
If you choose to buy supplements that are derived from green coffee bean extract, it doesn't really matter how it works to some extent. As long as it is safe (no one reported any side effects at all in this recent study), then the only thing that really matters is that it helps you lose weight, regardless of how it is able to do this or what the key ingredient is.
If you are interested in adding green coffee to your weight loss plan, you can of course head to your local health store and buy some green coffee beans. Then you can start drinking several cups of this coffee every day in order to try and get the same benefits.
However for optimum success, you will get far more benefit from a green coffee bean extract supplement because these are often equivalent to around 10 cups of green coffee. These supplements are a little harder to get hold of, and often more expensive, but they are far better from a weight loss point of view.
