She describes the leadership behaviors that create this culture resulting in employees being self-directive, creative, innovative and taking ownership. As Ms. Durkin stated in her presentation, “Once you’ve recruited the right people in the right positions at the right time, it is important to retain them.” Her recommendations on how to retain these individuals is for great leaders to encourage their employees to bring their brains to work - allow them to be challenged and energized about solving major business issues.
