Because the Altima sold so well last year, its expectations are high in 2012. Employees at the suburban Philadelphia Nissan dealership were impressed with the redesigned 2013 Altima, unveiled recently at the New York International Auto Show and expected to be in dealerships by June. They agree that a redesigned model usually outperforms its previous model sales-wise, however, they recognize that the Altima is facing stiffer competition than it has in years past.
This year the family car segment saw a much larger number of redesigns than usual. The Ford Fusion, Chevy Malibu, Honda Accord, and Volkswagen Passat all introduced new models for 2012, as did the Toyota Camry. Because many of these redesigns were much more drastic than the Altima’s, some worry that the gap between it and the Camry might be difficult to close. While this concern is certainly reasonable, Concordville Nissan points out that the Altima has traditionally been offered to consumers at very reasonable prices, something that may give it an edge over the competition. For example, right now at Concordville Nissan, the Altima is available to lease for 24 months at $179 a month, or to buy with 0.0% APR financing for up to 36 months.
