“DCS now has over 130 super yachts using the service and the figure is rising at an extraordinary rate each month,” says Simon Roberts, Head of Dominion Crew Solutions Limited, an Isle of Man incorporated company that supports DCS. “This is a fantastic achievement for the company, taking into account the business has grown organically without any acquisition. The first milestone was reaching 100 clients, which coincided with the Isle of Man Ship Registry adding their 100th yacht on to the Commercial Register”.
“The focus for it now is to continue delivering the highest standard of service to the current and ever expanding fleet of clients. Key to this is the dedicated and experienced team providing 24/7 guidance on all crew employment matters, so that wherever the yacht is located in the world there is always someone at the end of the phone to offer advice or assist with any issues.”
Factors contributing to the success of the business include the highly qualified staff, experts in maritime employment, and the fact that all the crew are employed by one specialised company. This provides Captains and their crew with a sense of belonging and peace of mind.
Simon added: “The crew employment and payroll service is operated from outside of the EU, effectively removing the employers’ EU social security contributions and the employment liabilities from the yacht owner. Crew contracts meet the requirements of the impending MLC2006 and crew qualifications, references and testimonials are verified. DCS manages crew disciplinary and grievances, processes multi-currency payroll, produces pay advice slips and ensures continued compliance with all international maritime employment legislation”
DCS has also taken the time to develop a seamless process to implement pure white label arrangements for clients. This is a unique solution for yacht managers, large or small, for whom the importance of retaining brand identity is paramount to their business in a crowded marketplace.
