April 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Teens in the news are often talked about in a negative way.  And yet the ones who are actually out in their community doing good increase in numbers daily.  Such is the case for a group of teens associated with Christ Lutheran Church in Charlotte, NC and Miss South Carolina United States 2012, Chelsea Gregory.

The Experience at CLC is a high school ministry who has partnered with The Sandbox, an organization that locks arms with others in the community of Charlotte and the surrounding region.  Their mission is to help families who suffer from the devastating effects of pediatric cancer.  The Sandbox helps families in a number of ways from donating much needed food to washers and dryers to clothing or whatever else that family may need.  Their purpose is to provide for those families so that they may focus on the most important thing which is healing their child!

The Experience has banded together in order to help The Sandbox by scheduling a tour of the Southeast beginning this summer.  The tour will highlight "Their Story" through music, drama and multi media.  They will take an offering during their performances and all proceeds will benefit The Sandbox and their charitable work for pediatric cancer.

Miss South Carolina United States 2012, Chelsea Gregory, is a Goodwill Ambassador for The Sandbox and will be promoting The Experience as they begin their tour and throughout their performance schedule.  Her first promotion will be on May 24, 2012 at The Big View Diner, 16637 Lancaster Highway, Charlotte, NC.  The event begins at 6:00 pm and will feature a silent auction, autograph opportunities and photos from Miss South Carolina United States, and heavy appetizers.  The proceeds for the event will also benefit The Sandbox and Charlotte's pediatric cancer community. Cost for tickets is $10 per person.

All of this activity is leading to one very important evening.  On September 28th, The Sandbox will host its second annual prom for pediatric cancer patients. An Evening of Believing will be held at the Bank of America Founder's Hall in Uptown Charlotte.  The goal is to double the amount of teens that attend to about 350 this year.

Miss South Carolina United States has contributed for the last two years in collecting gowns for the young ladies who attend the prom.  She has used her pageant connections to bring in over 300 gowns collectively.  The gowns come from all over the Southeast and are gathered from other charitable organizations such as The Fairy Godmother Project of Music City, Cinderella Dreams of Midlothian, VA and Pretty and Primped of Greensboro, NC.

Chelsea Gregory is finishing her senior year as a PR major at Gardner-Webb University.  She will be competing for the national title of Miss United States 2012 in Washington, DC this July.  In the meantime, she continues to look for ways to support and help The Sandbox in their efforts to make a difference in Charlotte and the surrounding regions.
