April 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Epidemiology of diabetes is nearly four times of cancer. One in five people in the UAE have been diagnosed with it; out of these are a number of children. By the year 2030, more than double the people will have diabetes. An estimated 70% of the UAE population is classified at high-risk of developing type 2. Around the world, some 285m people now have diabetes, a figure expected to climb to 440m within 20 years.

In Type 2 diabetes, your body cannot make enough insulin or what it makes doesn’t work properly. The risk of diabetes increases with obesity. The obese are 50 to 80 times more likely to develop type 2.

According to research changing diet can be a viable solution in controlling the illness.
DrMehrabDashtdar, who had been suffering from type 2 diabetes for six years but has recovered fully now, said:“It is really fascinating. Importance of diet is well known in managing some of the most serious health conditions. Nutrition is an emerging science,it allows people to take some responsibility for their own health, and that is invaluable.”

Type 2 is the most common form of diabetes in the UAE. Symptoms include fatigue, thirst, frequent urination, recurrent thrush and wounds that are slow to heal.

DrDashtdar stressed: “Type 2 diabetes is related with energy balance in the body. If you are eating more than you metabolism, the excess energy will  stored in the liver and other parts of your body as fat, which can lead to type 2 diabetes in some people. Low-caloric dietcombine with a healthy lifestyle can reverse the disease.”

It was reported by at Newcastle University that people who reduced their food intake to just 600 calories a day were remarkably free of diabetes. Also reports shows that some sort of tea is being hailed as a diabetic’s best friend. According to the US Department of Agriculture scientists, green, black and oolong teas can boost the activity of insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar levels.

DrDashtdar, who saw his sugar levels drop upon consuming Yilouhe Chinese Green Herbal Tea for only one and a half year, said: “Teas such as Yilouhe Chinese Green Herbal Teaact as a purifier and are rich in natural ingredients that works as an antioxidant. Other ingredientsin it appear to block production of blood fats and boost metabolism. It prompts the body to remove the fat accumulating in body, and enhancing pancreas inproducing insulin. This function helps to improve the body’s ability to respond to insulin (reducing insulin resistance), leading to lowering levels blood sugar.”

The consequences of diabetes are alarming.Untreateddiabetes raises the risk of heart attacks, blindness and amputation and kidney failure.  For example, according to studies, cardiovascular disease is likely to kill 52% of people with type 2 diabetes.
