April 25, 2012 - PRLog -- The author of a new kitchen book for men announced today that a portion of the profits from the sale of his book will be given to help those affected by tornadoes in Alabama.  Up to fifty percent of the profit from copies sold of “Relax Dad, It’s Just the Kitchen” through Mother’s Day will be presented to the Governor’s Emergency Relief Fund for the April 2011 Alabama tornadoes.
“Living in the one of the hardest hit areas really makes me feel thankful”, the author, Stan Reese said from his Harvest, Alabama home. “I still see so many signs of destruction but then there are a lot of signs we don’t see, like the mental damage.”
Reese was a resident of Dora, Alabama last year and saw several nearby Walker County communities such as Cordova and Argo decimated by the series of storms.
“All we lost was electricity. There were plenty of people who lost their homes, their belongings and their keepsakes. Some lost family members, friends and coworkers”, Reese continued. “When we moved to Harvest last fall, we saw homes that looked like they had been through a war zone. We saw trees that were broken and we saw lives that had forever been wrecked by the disaster.”
The author’s book, “Relax Dad, It’s Just the Kitchen” has been in publication for less than a month. The book is his effort to help men handle chores such as cooking and cleaning. He said he saw the book as a chance to reach out to other men and now he sees it as a chance to help even more.
“For me, it was not an easy task to learn how to cook and clean for two small children. But looking back, that was simple compared to how people have had to put their lives back together since last April”, the veteran Dad said. “Maybe this book will help men do a better job in the kitchen, but I also think it can help someone recover hope”.
Reese encouraged others who survived the storms to get involved any way they can.
“You can’t predict when these storms will strike or where they will hit. The next one could come my way and I would hope that people would try to help me like I’m trying to help them”
The book is available online at the author’s website, www.RelaxDad.com. It can also be purchased through Amazon.com, Barnesandnoble.com, Booksamillion.com and other online retailers. Inside the 190 pages are more than 70 simple recipes and chapters of advice on shopping, kitchen tools, safe food handling and even how to clean up after cooking. Signed copies are available on the website for $12.81. Online retailers offer the book for less than $10.00.
