The Zumbathon event is designed to be a “exhilarating, effective, easy-to-follow, Latin-inspired, calorie-burning dance fitness-party that's moving members toward joy and health” according to the Grand Prairie YMCA website. “Although the Zumba program is unrelated to dentistry we feel that promoting healthcare will have a positive influence on our patients and our community” explained Billie Prisby, the marketing director at the Beautiful Lake Ridge Smiles dental practice. “Healthy Kids Day on the other hand allows us to provide children free dental examinations and gives us the opportunity to stress the importance of oral hygiene to children.”
Zumbathon has already come and gone but there is still time to get your children involved in the Healthy Kids Day program happening this Saturday, April 28th. The event will be taking place at the Grand Prairie YMCA and is designed to encourage kids and parents to commit to keeping the body and mind active during the summer. Studies have shown that kids who would ordinarily participate in activities that stimulate the body and mind cease to do so after the end of the school year. Joining the activities will promote health and education across the country.
