TED was founded in 1980 by Renni Browne, coauthor of Self-Editing for Fiction Writers and one of the most experienced book editors working in publishing today. Their unique approach to helping writers reach their goals and become successful has earned them feature coverage from The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, Writers Digest, and also "recommended"
With prizes valued at $2,000 in editorial services, this contest is designed to identifying fiction writers who are ready for publication or who need an experts help in taking their work to the next level. This year’s contest will be judged by one of the Editorial Department’s senior editors, Andy Meisenheimer. Andy Meisenheimer is a freelance editor and writing coach. A former editor with Zondervan Publishers, he edits manuscripts for The Editorial Department where he coaches published and unpublished writers in the art and practice of fiction writing. He runs storypraxis, a literary experiment encouraging creative writing. The Fiction Writing Contest Grand Prize will award one entrant a Self-Editing Memo & Coaching Line-Edit. This consists of an in-depth assessment and coaching of an author's writing style, based on the principles of Self-Editing for Fiction Writers, by Editorial Department founder Renni Browne and Dave King. Any self-editing points that would strengthen the author's voice and style are explained at length via editorial memorandum and illustrated with examples from the manuscript and a line-editing sample. This prize is valued at $1000 to $1500 determined by the length of the manuscript. OC Christian Writers Conference is in its 29th year of helping writers discover their talents, polish their skills, and connect with the authors, literary agents, and publishers.
