April 22, 2012 - PRLog -- Victor and Ann have been on a campaign to record the life of an airman who grappled with the responsibility of air combat over the skies of Germany in 1943. Also, one of his experiences on a more personal level involves Buck’s love affair with Ilona - a scorching hot singer from the Cabaret district.

Only a year earlier, his life consisted of attending high school, dating his home-town girlfriend and caring for his younger siblings. Follow Buck through a painful time of leaving everyone behind to learn the skills of an airman. Fly backward in the rear seat of a trainer aircraft while firing dual 50 caliber guns at a fast moving target.

In the clutches of war, bear witness as Buck engages the best of Hitler’s Luftwaffe with a barrage of hot lead. And if he survives this air to air combat, smell black powder from flak, exploding just below the belly of your plane while the bombardier lines up his Norden Bombsight.

Nineteen, trained on Browning machine guns mounted in the tail end of a heavy bomber and ready to defend the free world, even to the death, Buck tries to cope with the enormity of world events surrounding him.

A similar war-time romance (novel by Randall Wallace) was launched as a film http://www.amazon.com/Harbor-Two-Disc-Anniversary-Commemo... in 2001. “Pearl Harbor” stars Ben Affleck as Rafe, who volunteered to serve with the Royal Air Force’s Eagle Squadron. He promises to come back for his girlfriend, Evelyn (Kate Beckinsale). However, unexpected events complicate their relationship. Yet by the end of the war, Rafe and Evelyn find happiness together.

In the novel, “Tailgunner”, Buck Remke promises to return from a top secret mission over the skies of Germany. His girlfriend, Ilona Laszlo, waits for him, while London fights to survive the constant barrage of bombings from Nazi Germany’s Luftwaffe. But this story follows a more austere path than Hollywood’s version of love and war. What truly sets “Tailgunner” apart resides in the main characters’ (Buck and Ilona) abilities to push aside their fears in spite of overwhelming circumstances. They faced adversity with courage and looked to a greater destiny.
