In the USA Today feature, each tax professional was asked for their top tax tips. Yael Lazar replied, “My best tax advice is to prepare your tax return early. If you have a balance due, you’ll have until April 15th to save up the money to pay with the return. If you are due a refund, you’ll get it early. The biggest mistake you can make is to not file your tax return because it is a federal crime to not file your return, you’ll get hit with huge penalties which will only increase your liability and the period of time the IRS has to collect this money from you doesn’t start running until your return is filed.”
