PRLog (Press Release) - Apr. 21, 2012 - Report by egyptlastminute.com CAIRO: On Monday, the countries of the Mediterranean opened a conference seeking to enhance the future of tourism in the region. The conference focuses on the countries of Egypt and Tunisia; the most affected by the Arab spring wave, which toppled lots of dictators last year.
The conference is being organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in cooperation with the Tunisian government, and it will last for two day. “We are trying to find solutions to support one of the most important sectors in Egypt to enhance the flow of foreign currencies”, an official in the Ministry of Tourism told Bikyamasr.com.
“The conference aim is to preserve the position of the Mediterranean zone as the top global destination in terms of international arrivals”, Report by egyptlastminute.com
The host country, Tunisia, where a popular uprising led to the ousting of its former president Zine el Abidine Ben Ali in January 2011, saw its tourism revenues decrease by a third in 2011

Egypt has also suffered lots of losses since last year, as Egypt lost about 10$ billion dollars, according to official figures.
