Mustang Water Park Makes a Splash for 35th Anniversary Season

April 28 marks 2012 opening day at family-friendly central coast attraction

April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- (ARROYO GRANDE, Calif.) - In 1978, when Mustang Water Park opened the doors to the Lopez Lake water attraction for their very first season, a gallon of gas cost $.63, a new home averaged $62,000 and the Bee Gees were “Stayin Alive” on the Billboard hit charts. Although music styles have changed and prices have risen, this family-friendly water park near Arroyo Grande remains as popular now as when it first began operation more than three decades ago.

What started out as two simple waterslides nestled in the oak-studded hills at the Lopez Recreation area now includes multiple water attractions and has become a favorite destination for central coast families looking to spend time together while beating the spring and summertime heat.

This year, in celebration of Mustang’s 35th anniversary season, the park has a series of discounts and special events planned that will delight both the young and the young at heart. On Saturday, June 9, a special surprise event will take place at the park that is sure to “go viral” and on Saturday, August 18, Mustang will host its 35th Celebration Carnival - an all-day party that will include food, live music, special games, dancers, pony rides and much, much more!

In honor of their 35th summer of fun, Mustang Water Park is putting together a historical photo collage that will be prominently displayed at the entrance.  Chris Simpson, owner of Mustang Water Park, asks that fans share their photo memories of fun times spent at the park. Photos can be mailed to CPS Amusements, Inc., P.O. Box 309 Arroyo Grande, CA 93421 or, emailed digitally to customersupport@mustangwaterpark.com.  Be sure to include names of those photographed and the year the picture was taken.  This nostalgic photo trip down memory lane will greet future visitors as they enter the park grounds.

“We have parents and grandparents visiting Mustang Water Park today who remember coming here when they were young kids,” Simpson said. “To capture these multi-generational photo memories is the perfect way to celebrate our long, rich history in the local community.”
