The day’s festivities begin with a pancake breakfast and chat with Farmer Bob Zurschmeide about the joys and challenges of growing and integrating seasonal produce into your lifestyle. Bob says “over the years my own family has created new habits and techniques for preparing and preserving the bounty from the farm.” Great Country produces farm fresh eggs and partners with other local farms to provide grass fed beef, humanely raised pork, honey, syrups and other regional specialties The Who’s Your Farmer? meet and greet will feature Beekeeper, Bill Bundy, Joyce and Travis Miller of Wildwood Hickory Syrup, Steve Baker of Baker’s Pork, The Brown Family of Oakland Green Beef and guests can investigate this season’s real milk share program with Shannon Nichols of Hedgebrook Farms. Fresh asparagus is available for $2.99/lb and members get 10% off all produce. The Farm Market offers jams & jellies, baked goods and great gift ideas from local artists. The Roosteraunt serves cold drinks and natural hot dogs, burgers and BBQ from 12-4pm.
Included in the general admission price are many farm attractions like the animal barnyard with friendly animals and new baby goats. The five acre play area features unique attractions like the giant jumping pillow; corn bin “beach”, fishing pond, hay rides and much more!
