St. Georges, Grenada –The GIRL PAT TROPHY, known in regional yachting circles as the oldest ocean race in the southern Caribbean - was won by Peter “Champie” Evans, and his Crew on March 30th 2012 - in an astonishing time of 7hrs:57mins:
The jubilant, and almost entirely Grenadian crew included Patrick Andrews, Jonathan Beaubrun, Jacqueline Evans and Italian Michele Marelli. The yacht JULIA, a Nautor Swan 48, delivered this win in the finest of sailing styles. Dubbed a “Horizon Job”, this sleek yachting craft took the GIRL PAT TROPHY win, way before her closest competitor could even be seen on the horizon.
