April 20, 2012 - PRLog -- The Cottonwood Art Festival is pleased to announce that Neighborhood Credit Union is the new sponsor of the Emerging Artists program. Neighborhood Credit Union, the oldest credit union in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, is a not-for-profit, member-owned, volunteer-directed financial organization that provides fiscally sound, economically creative banking solutions for families.

As a growing and thriving financial institution, Neighborhood Credit Union is committed to supporting the Richardson community.  The credit union has worked with the Community of Network Ministries and recently volunteered at Take Me Home Pet Rescue located in Richardson.  Neighborhood Credit Union is known for innovative products including Kasasa, a free checking account that gives NCU members extra money every month, and MPower, an auto loan service with a number of complimentary benefits. An important focus for Neighborhood Credit Union is financial education, to help members learn how to improve their financial future.

Now in its 44th year, the Cottonwood Art Festival is the premier fine arts event in North Texas. The festival has extended its hours and is set for 10 AM – 8 PM Saturday and 10 AM - 6 PM Sunday, May 5-6, 2012, at Cottonwood Park, 1321 W. Beltline Rd., in Richardson, TX 75080. Admission and parking are free. Full details are available at www.cottonwoodartfestival.com or 972-744-4581.

The Emerging Artists program is the educational outreach component of the Cottonwood Arts Festival. Now in its sixth year, this program is an innovative and resourceful opportunity that mentors students in the art world. Students are encouraged to express themselves artistically and learn the process of exhibiting.
The uniqueness of Cottonwood Art Festival’s Emerging Artists program is that it is only available to high school and college art students. Interested students are required to develop an art concept, an artist statement and produce images of their work. This package was submitted to their teacher for review and then sent in for jury to Cottonwood Art Festival.
