"Tom" - The Life and Times of an Extraordinary Man

Most people were poor, but were rich in friendships and family experiences.

This is the story of Tom’s eventful life. Now 82, the author relates his life and times. He survived the Great Depression, was a Royal Navy apprentice in World War II, lived in many parts of Africa, served in an anti-terrorist unit and sailed around the world for four years in a 30-foot boat. He was chased by pirates off the coast of Columbia and was shipwrecked off the coast of New Zealand in a hurricane.

Throughout his exciting memoir Tom, Tom Edwards’ words shine with humour and wit. He recalls Edward the Eighth’s abdication speech verbatim, but recent memories don’t have quite as much clarity. But one thing is for certain: His life has been an exciting journey.

About the Author: Tom Edwards was born in Hampshire, England, where he spent his early years. After completing his education, he served six years in the Fleet Air Arm branch of the Royal Navy. He then worked several years as an artist before moving to Southern Africa, where was a reporter as well as a mining engineer in South Africa, Zambia and Namibia, finally settling in what was then Rhodesia. After travelling the world, he now lives at Lake Macquarie in New South Wales, Australia. His previous books are If I Should Die, No Greater Freedom and The Storyteller. His next book is titled The Hunter.
