Follow on Google News | Blue Springs Leadership Class to Host a Free Health and Wellness EventFree Hands-Only CPR, Self-Defense and Nutrition classes in Blue Springs are sure to draw a crowd.
By: www.bluespringschamber.com The event will take place on Saturday, May 5th in the gymnasiums of Blue Springs High School located at 2000 Northwest Ashton Drive, Blue Springs, MO. From 8am – 12:30pm, the community can participate in the free classes or stop by any of the exciting health and wellness vendor exhibits. The first session will begin at 8am with the second session starting at 10:30am. Participants must be 15 years of age or older to join in the fun. For those interested in the Hands-Only CPR class taught by the Central Jackson County Fire Protection District (CJCFPD), each class will last two hours. Blue Springs Police Department (BSPD) will be teaching Self-Defense basic skills so come prepared to move during the one and a half hour sessions before or after taking a nutrition class taught by Innovative Sports Training’s owner Roberto Parker. This event is made possible thanks to numerous community volunteers and financial support from St Mary’s Medical Center, Kennedy’s Jewelers, Community America Credit Union, Stand-Up Blue Springs, Kwik Kopy Printing, Haldex, Metcalf Bank, Blue Springs Christian Church, and Foster Dental Care. Pre-registration is not required but is requested as all classes are on a first come basis. Leadership Blue Springs was established in 1991 by the Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce to develop a community leadership pool. Participants develop skills and knowledge of the community through a series of workshops focusing on business, government, quality of life, volunteer service and local history. The 2011-2012 Leadership Blue Springs class has 13 participants who are eager to host the free community wellness and health event on May 5th.
