April 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Chelsea Rae Gregory is Miss South Carolina United States 2012 and has long time been an advocate for learning disabilities associated with attention deficit disorder. She is now also focusing on pediatric cancer as a Goodwill Ambassador for The Sandbox.

It all began 5 years ago when Miss Gregory entered a local Miss America pageant  in Pennsylvania.  She had to choose a platform she would promote.  The choice was easy.  She chose to be an advocate for attention deficit disorder since she had the condition and it had affected her life dramatically since elementary school.

As she entered college and continued to enter pageants,Chelsea also continued to use attention deficit disorder as her platform.  Finally last year she won Miss South Carolina International 2011.  That accomplishment earned her the right to become a national affiliate for CHADD, the organization that supports those with attention deficit disorder.  It was at that time that she created her own program Re-Focus:  ADHD Awareness with a website to help give information to those who did not know where to turn.  Visit http://www.misssouthcarolinaunitedstates2012.com .  Chelsea was surprised when she received many emails from people asking her for help.  Exasperated mothers who had no clue how to help their teens with the disorder.  Mothers of young children who had the condition also contacted Chelsea.  But the story doesn't end there.

As Chelsea became more and more involved in her community with different outreach groups, she began meeting people who served families with a child suffering from pediatric cancer.  The Sandbox, a fairly new non-profit that devotes all of their time to pediatric cancer patients and their families quickly adopted Chelsea for her enthusiasm and spirit and made her a Goodwill Ambassador.  This endevour became quite a fit for the queen as she was able to contact various groups associated with pageants and enlisted their help to donate gowns to the annual "prom" for cancer patients hosted by The Sandbox.

This year, Chelsea is the reigning Miss South Carolina United States 2012 and is spending most of her time addressing the needs of pediatric cancer patients in the region and helping The Sandbox raise money for their 2012 Evening of Believing Prom to be held in September.  Events will begin in May and last through the summer and into September in order to raise money, gain partners, collect donated gowns, shoes and jewelry among other things needed to put on a first class prom. "These kids didn't get a chance to go to their school proms because they have been fighting for their lives," said Gregory.
