Follow on Google News | Long Beach Island Region of the Jersey Shore starts off summer with a roarMay 19 & 20 is set as the official welcoming of summer 2012 for Long Beach Island with the Soar into Summer Beach Opening and the Pour into Summer Wine Festival providing something for everyone to soak it all in.
By: Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce On the street side get to see some classic cars from the Vintage Automobile Museum, the Tuckerton Seaport Pirate Ship, Buster from the Lakewood BlueClaws, get your face painted by Sprinkles the Clown plus live entertainment from B98.5FM DJs giving out prizes and giveaways. At 10 am local and state officials will come together to cut the ribbon between two giant RECLAM the BAY painted clams from their Clam Trail, along with members of the US Army. Take a walk to the beach where LBI Eventz and Island Surf & Sail will be providing water sport demos on paddleboarding, surf boarding and kite flying, while Alliance for a Living Ocean, ReClam the Bay and Long Beach Island Foundation for Arts & Sciences do a special Science Saturday Family Beach Program After Saturday mornings festivities, it is time to spend the rest of the weekend with Pour into Summer Wine Festival happening May 19 & 20 from noon to 5pm at the Taylor Avenue Ball field, behind Bay Village in Beach Haven featuring wine tasting of more than 250 NJ wines, souvenir wine glass, live music, and entertainment along with delicious local picnic items for purchase as well as wineby the bottle or case sales. Featured wineries include Plagido’s Winery, DiMatteo Vineyard, Renault Winery, Tomasello Winery, Coda Rossa Winery, Cream Ridge Winery, Auburn Road Vineyard, Wagonhouse Winery, Amalthea Cellars and the Sharrott Winery.
