The award recognizes Beacon’s outstanding work in support of the DHS mission—in particular, the work performed for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Office of the Chief Procurement Officer in FY11.

The annual DHS Small Business Achievement Award recognizes exceptional contributions to the homeland security mission by a select group of small business firms from across the country. The award is sponsored by the DHS Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU) and includes nominations and substantial participation by the broader DHS procurement community and program offices in DHS components.
Beacon provides integrated training support services to the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP) located in Anniston, Alabama. The contract includes recruitment and registration of students, scheduling of transportation and lodging, coordination with other CDP functional areas and contractors, and quality control. Beacon has also supported DHS on a number of other contracts, including within FEMA, the Transportation Security Administration, and the U.S. Coast Guard.
