“Fixed is a realistic portrayal of racetrack corruption in the ‘70’s, when a young female jockey is plunged into a world of the noble and the nefarious—grooms, trainers, FBI agents and race-fixing gangsters. Paddy Head, a jockey herself, lived this life and portrays it with laser precision.” ~ Steve Haskin, senior correspondent for Blood-Horse magazine, author of Tales From the Triple Crown and Dr. Fager.
“I could feel the Suffolk Down’s dirt in my face and the reins in my hands again! Her depiction of the era was spot-on; so crooked it was almost straight. Head’s depiction of legendary girl jockeys Denise Boudrot and Barbara Smith so captured the essence of their characters… Truly a wonderful memorial tribute to the lives of those early pioneer jockeys. Fixed is a delicious mix of suspense story and drama that is accurate, convincing and memorable.” ~ Devi Dawn, pioneer female jockey.

About the Author
Paddy blazed a path as one of North America’s pioneer female jockeys. Her success is remarkable as her childhood was a landscape in which horses only lived in her imagination. Born in Hamilton Ontario, she served her apprenticeship at Suffolk Downs. Retired from a 20 year career, she uses her animal communication skills to re-school racehorses for their second career. After surviving a life-threatening brain hemorrhage, Paddy was inspired to develop her second passion, writing. She self-published her first novel, Majeek, in 2005, and is now writing the second novel in the FIXED trilogy while training horses for her own personal pleasure. Paddy lives in Abbotsford, BC, with her partner, 7 horses, five cats, including Dolly Button, her feline editor.
