Pathfinder Announces Their First Tree Climb-A-Thon--Raising Money for Youth Programs

April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- We all know kids need to spend more time outdoors. Pathfinder Outdoor Education is focused on providing outdoor adventure experiences to Florida youth. With our current economic issues including school budget cuts and high unemployment rates, schools are offering fewer field trip adventures, and many parents lack money to provide the summer camp experiences.

“We believe every child deserves the gift of the outdoors,” explains Tony Ceresoli, Sr.—Executive Director for Pathfinder. “We’re about more than just the field trip or summer camp experience; our programs bring adventure, purpose and enrichment into the lives of youth.”

Pathfinder is currently 63% of the way toward their 2012 Annual Support Campaign goal of $10,000 to help youth in our communities. The money raised will be used for school group and summer camp scholarships. Among other groups, Booker Middle School in Sarasota and Academy Prep in Saint Petersburg will be recipients of these scholarships.

“Each year hundreds of youth are able to experience the life-changing outdoor adventure programs we offer,” says Kari Fletcher, Marketing & Fund Development Director at Pathfinder, “but for each who is privileged to attend, there are countless more that do not have the means to take advantage of this opportunity. We want to see how many more lives we can impact this year!”

This fundraiser concludes with our first-ever Tree Climb-A-Thon May 5th at Pathfinder’s office location in Saint Petersburg.

“Canopy tree climbing is Pathfinder’s signature event, so a tree climb-a-thon is a fitting close for our fundraising effort” continues Ms. Fletcher, “We hope the press and the community will come out to celebrate with us on May 5th.”

The event will feature live music by Urban Gypsies of Florida, played from the treetop, as well as crafts, food, and, of course, tree climbing!
