April 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Fort Lauderdale, FL (USA) and Paris (France) – ServicePilot Technologies announced general availability of version 7.2 of their mainframe application performance monitoring (APM) product, ServicePilot® NBA for z/OS. The new release includes user requested enhancements that make this tool even easier to use for network operations and help desk personnel as well as mainframe staff. It also adds support for z/OS Version 1.13.

NBA for z/OS provides real-time and historic monitoring of all IP stack activity. It builds the application path between the mainframe and the network, and NBA measures and analyzes host and network response time. The end-to-end visibility includes logical and physical interfaces, local and remote applications, network activity, connection diagnosis as well as response time. The traffic flows are analyzed and alerts or actions can be initiated based on abnormal behavior on the network, such as bad application response time, bandwidth consumption, or malicious traffic.

This powerful, yet easy to use APM tool is used by some of the largest corporations in the world to enhance their z/OS network, IP network, Enterprise Extender (EE), OSA, and FTP monitoring. It installs in minutes, and it will automatically discover network and end point resources. NBA for z/OS features highly intuitive reporting, so network operations personnel as well as mainframe staff can use the tool to quickly isolate and resolve problems. Within 20 minutes of installation reports are generated, and users can analyze the response time for thousands of connections. There are many intuitive reports available on-line through NBA’s web interface, or they can be output in PDF file format.

The latest release includes enhancements to simplify and improve the management of TN3270 connections. Users can now search current sessions by IP address or by LU name and sort the report by various criteria. A new facility also allows the user to review all the current TN3270 sessions in a single screen in complex environments with multiple LPARs. These enhancements help customers quickly identify a particular TN3270 session. Once that session has been isolated, it can be cancelled to resolve a hung situation.

ServicePilot offers a popular free trace tool, NBA for z/OS Free Edition. The latest version also provides support for z/OS 1.13. You can download the free tool at https://www.servicepilot.com/download-nba-for-zos.
