Justice and Corrections Expert Tapped as New Assistant Director – Program Services

The IJIS Institute is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert L. May II as the Institute’s new Assistant Director – Program Services.
 
April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The IJIS Institute, a nonprofit organization that focuses on mission-critical information sharing for justice, public safety, and homeland security, is pleased to announce the appointment of Robert L. May II as the Institute’s new Assistant Director – Program Services.

For 24 of his 36 years of criminal justice experience, Mr. May has worked at the national level.  Since 1999, he has been a principal with the Criminal Justice Institute and associate director with the Association of State Correctional Administrators.

In his role with the Association of State Correctional Administrators, Mr. May directed numerous Bureau of Justice Assistance projects, including: Correctional Response to Pandemic; Corrections Intelligence, Counter-Terrorism, Gangs and Violent Crime Information Sharing; Reentry Information Sharing Pilot Projects; and Justice Information Sharing in Support of Reentry.  Mr. May managed the Association’s meetings, grants and legislative support for state correctional administrators.

Previously, Mr. May served as a principal and director of Criminal Justice Projects at JBS International.  In that role, Mr. May led criminal justice division staff in projects such as a Technical Assistance and Training for the Corrections Program Office’s Residential Substance Abuse Treatment for State Prisoners, the Center for  Substance Abuse Treatment’s Criminal Justice Drug Treatment Networks, and the National Prison Treatment Demonstration Project. Mr. May began his career in law enforcement and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has published and presented widely on topics such as the correctional response to pandemic flu, best practices in prison staffing analysis, and transitioning offenders from jail to the community.
