April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Zenex Technologies has added a new European patent to its portfolio of patents supporting and protecting the Zenex GasSaver, a ground-breaking passive flue gas heat recovery (PFGHR) system designed to improve the overall efficiency of domestic and commercial central heating boilers and hot water systems.

This energy saving British technology helps to address future energy needs and radically reduce carbon emissions within the home and workplace. The Zenex GasSaver represents the most efficient heat recovery product of its kind, operating under a wider range of conditions than any other device. With UK and US protection already in place, the Zenex GasSaver has been further supported by this latest European patent.

The news comes shortly after Zenex Managing Director Chris Farrell scooped the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in the annual New Energy Awards held in London. The Awards, now in their fifth year and viewed as the ‘Oscars’ of the renewable energy sector, are designed to highlight the achievements of management teams, companies and initiatives that have made a significant contribution to the cleantech sector within the last twelve months.

A passionate pioneer of energy saving innovations, Chris Farrell established Zenex in 2003 to develop low carbon heat technologies. Since then over £3 million has been invested in creating a range of new ultra energy efficient products including the Zenex GasSaver and the Zenex SuperFlow system.  Chris Farrell was chosen by a judging panel of sector experts including environmental economist Paul Ekins from University College London, and John Loughhead from the UK Energy Research Centre, in recognition of his vision, creativity and commercial acumen over the past ten years and in particular for the development of the GasSaver.

“It was an honour to receive the Award for Entrepreneur of the Year and a fitting tribute to the team at Zenex,” said Chris Farrell. “It is also a fantastic accolade for British innovation and we are equally delighted to have secured this third, European patent for the Zenex GasSaver. Adopting low carbon heat technologies such as the GasSaver - with its proven substantial financial and carbon savings - is vital for decarbonisation and the long term energy future of the UK. Moreover, it is technologies like ours that will help the Government deliver its new Heat Strategy and drive for maximum energy efficiency.”

The GasSaver is one of a family of energy saving products that includes the Zenex SuperFlow system, a super efficient, all-in-one domestic heating and hot water solution for homeowners, available under license from Alpha Boilers and Baxi.

Zenex has also partnered with commercial heating manufacturer Remeha Commercial to produce the Quinta Eco Plus, a ‘super condensing’ heating and hot water system which incorporates PFGHR technology to offer a new attainable efficiency level for buildings of 97 per cent GCV at 82/71°C flow and return temperatures.
