Doctors to be tested on English language skills

Unique Languages offers to help doctors with poor English skills

April 18, 2012 - PRLog -- The UK Health Secretary Andrew Lansley has announced that a team of senior doctors will have to ensure that doctors from outside the UK have sufficient English communication skills to make themselves understood to colleagues and patients.

The announcement comes after the notorious case of German doctor Daniel Ubani gave a patient 20 times the prescribed limit of diamorphine to treat pain in his kidneys.  The doctor had failed an English test in one NHS trust and so applied to work in another.

With some 23,000 doctors registered at the GMC understood to be from non-English speaking countries, the need for English language skills is imperative.

Unique Languages is uniquely placed to help medical professionals to improve their English language skills in order to speak clearly and confidently with those around them.

Our intensive Medical English course can be tailored to the specific needs and focus of the language learner and we also cover other aspects of the English language to ensure that the learner is fluent in the language.
