WellCare Extends Help Following Midwest Storms

WellCare members in designated disaster areas have special rights such as assistance in filling prescriptions and replacing lost insurance information.
 
April 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Tampa, Florida (April 17, 2012) — WellCare Health Plans, Inc.  is making it easier for members affected by the recent severe weather to receive the health care they need. For WellCare members across Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa, it means help replacing prescription medications and lost insurance information.

“We are committed to serving our members and providing them access to quality health care,” said Walt Cooper, WellCare’s chief administrative officer. “This is particularly important following natural disasters, and we have resources in place to assist members in this time of need.”

WellCare members in designated disaster areas have special rights such as assistance in filling prescriptions and replacing lost insurance information.

To replace prescription medication: Members who are missing prescription medication or do not have prescription information readily available, should work with their pharmacies to identify and fill the necessary prescriptions. For help, members or pharmacies can call WellCare at 1-888-550-5252 (TTY/TDD 1-888-816-5252), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Most prescriptions can be transferred to another pharmacy during the emergency period and later transferred back to the member’s pharmacy, including across state lines if necessary.

To replace lost insurance information and plan ID cards: Members should call WellCare at 1-888-550-5252 (TTY/TDD 1-888-816-5252), Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 a.m., to request new ID cards. Members will need to provide an address where the new card can be sent. In the meantime, doctors, hospitals and pharmacies can call WellCare directly for member eligibility information.
